7–10 Core–Paths structure
The new Core-Path structure in the NSW Mathematics K-10 syllabus is designed to provide greater flexibility and differentiation in learning, allowing students to engage with mathematics at a level that suits their interests, abilities, and future pathways. It enables students to deepen their understanding in areas relevant to their future educational and career goals. For example, students aiming for STEM-related fields may follow a pathway with a stronger focus on algebra, functions, and advanced problem-solving, while others may engage in pathways emphasising practical applications of mathematics. This structure aligns with senior secondary mathematics courses, helping students transition smoothly into Stage 6 mathematics subjects such as Mathematics Standard, Mathematics Advanced, and Mathematics Extension courses.
