Bring your own designated device
Bomaderry High School is a bring your own device - iPad school. This means students are encouraged to bring a school approved iPad to school each day for educational purposes. Below, we outline the purpose, policies and procedures and requirements for school iPads.
Purpose
Bomaderry High School aims to deliver an innovative, efficient, informed, inclusive and connected school network to improve student growth and attainment, skills, engagement and opportunities for their future. This is underpinned by the NSW Government – Schools Digital Strategy and the NSW Department of Education School Excellence Framework. Teachers strive to expertly integrate technology into lessons and all staff are working towards being expert users of available technology and systems. The iPad was chosen as the preferred technology tool for Years 7-10.

BHS iPad learning hub
The BHS learning hub is designed by students and staff where you can find parent resources, student how to instructions and a showcase of how iPads are used class.
iPad minimum requirements
Apple iPad 8th Generation, 10.2 inch, 64GB, wi-fi device, IOS within the last two operating systems. The more memory (GB) the more students will be able to save. The later the generation, the more modern the device. A sturdy case is also recommended.
iPad applications required
The required iPad apps that come already installed on your iPad are Keynotes, Pages, iMovie, Clips, Freeform, Garageband, Notes and Numbers.
Apps that need to be downloaded for school use are Google Classroom, Google Drive, Google Chrome, Google Slides, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Microsoft 365 mobile apps, Microsoft Teams, Adobe Express, Minecraft Education, Kahoot!, Drawing Pad, Autodesk Fusion, Desmos Graphing, Calculator and Canva
Parent purchasing portal
BHS has established a parent purchasing portal with EDUCOM IT.
Parents will still have the choice to purchase their devices at any other outlet but will be unable to access the support services through this portal.
Bank of faculty iPads for students
Bomaderry High School maintains a bank of faculty iPads available for students who are unable to bring their own device to school. This ensures that all students have equal access to educational opportunities, whether for short-term or long-term use, subject to availability and in accordance with the school’s Equity Procedures. Enquiries can be made through the school via the Deputy Principal for the year group.
